Family fun day & golf tournament to raise funds for needy kids and youths at risks

Aims to raise SGD 100,000 benefitting underprivileged children in Singapore & Southeast Asia

Singapore, 1 December 2015: Local non-profit Little Heroes’ Dream will organise its fourth Swing for the Kids (SFTK) charity golf tournament to impact the lives of over 400 needy kids and youths at risk in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Held from 12 – 13 March 2016 at Palm Springs Golf & Country Club, SFTK is back after the success in 2015 with a bigger punch adding more exciting programmes to a fun-filled weekend of family activities and golf, all for a good cause. The 2016 event aims to raise SGD 100,000 to support projects helping the next generation live more sustainably so they are less reliant on external funds.

“For us, the big change we want to make is to give the children a better future by empowering them through education, vocational training and improved shelter, so they can become independent and do not need to rely constantly on donations” said Christian Rahnsch, Chairman of Little Heroes’ Dreams.

A family fun day event, held on March 12 at Montigo Resorts, Nongsa, offers golfers and their families a ‘Fun-Olympics’ where families compete with one another in kids-friendly games for example race and mini golf putting. On 13 March, golfers will gather for the tournament during which families can watch the game at the spectator area specially built this year for the golfers’ families. Up for grabs at the charity auction to be held on both days are dining and hotel stay vouchers from Grand Hyatt, W Hotel, Burnt Ends and Montigo Resorts, Nongsa just to name a few as well as golf membership at Palm Springs Golf & Country Club.

Little Heroes’ Dream is a non-profit organisation that helps foster sustainable development of orphanages, homes, communities and other organisations in Singapore and Southeast Asia, by giving them better living and learning conditions.

In 2015, the charity golf tournament raised SGD 30,000 which went to building a new classroom in the Philippines, funding part of a rented home for orphans in Batam and supporting scholarships for students in the Philippines and Batam. This year, Little Heroes’ Dreams will extend support to local beneficiaries in Singapore including WELL Centre for children from low income families, IC2 prephouse for children with impaired vision and Society of Father & Son, a centre caring for youths at risk. Funds will also go towards supporting scholarships for poor students in Indonesia and Philippines.

Swing for the Kids is presented by True North Advantage, a professional services staffing firm, and energy solutions company CENDID.

Price per golf player is SGD 169 for Singapore residents until 28 February 2016. Weekend stay at Montigo Resorts Nongsa for two adults and two children at a special SGD 699 per night inclusive of the free family day programme on March 12.
